- The train does not haul your bike, we will load your bike into one of our shuttle vans and transport it safely to Frostburg. You will ride the train to Frostburg and your bike will be waiting for you at the Frostburg Depot when you arrive.
- This package is not available to book directly through the railroad, book with Tracks and Yaks and we handle your train ticket with WMSR.
Ride the Train from Cumberland to Frostburg, Maryland!
The train departs at 11:30 a.m. from 13 Canal St Cumberland, MD. We will meet you at approximately 11:00 a.m. in the cul de sac on the right-hand side of the train station near the C&O Canal Visitor Center. Please do not bring your bikes up onto the platform!
When we arrive in Frostburg, stop in the depot to stock up on some sports drinks or water and granola bars. Or head across the street and grab a burger from the snack shack at The Trail Inn before you start your descent down the hill along the Great Allegheny Passage back to Cumberland. Enjoy your ride!

One of our shuttle drivers will meet you in front of Canal Place Visitor Center to load your bike and give you your train tickets. Once you arrive in Frostburg, your bike will be waiting for you.
What You'll Do & See

Check-in at the Frostburg Depot between 8:30 am and 10:00 am to register. At your own pace coast down the mountain all the way to Cumberland. Please allow at least one hour to reach Cumberland, longer if you would like to enjoy the ride, take some pictures, read the history plaques, etc, etc. The train leaves promptly at 11:30 and is requested to board by 11:15.
This is an easy 15-mile ride that almost anyone that can ride a bike can do! It’s all downhill at a constant 1.75% grade.
If you need a bike choose the rental option and we will provide a basic cruiser bike with coaster brakes and a helmet for your ride. ( adults between 5 foot and 6’2”).
If you have your own bike, just register at the Frostburg Depot in the morning and head out.
Cruise down the Great Allegheny Passage at your own pace with a goal of reaching Cumberland by 11:00 to board the train.
The train departs at 11:30 and typically arrives back in Frostburg before 1:00 pm. -
Check-in outside of Canal Place Station in Cumberland at the bottom of the stairs between 10:45 and 11:15.
If you are bringing your own bike, leave it with us at check-in and we will transport you to Frostburg, if renting one of our cruiser bikes for the return trip back to Cumberland, simply register and board the train. All tickets are standard coaches. Please board the train by 11:15 and enjoy the scenic and relaxing ride up the mountain.
