Our rail bike tours in Maryland are a fun way to experience this unique activity. Pedal alongside the Great Allegheny Passage hiking and biking trail along the mountain ridge. We are the only place in the state that offers this experience. Rail biking is not physically strenuous, so you can appreciate the spectacular mountain views and railroad history as you coast on by.

Who Are Tracks & Yaks?

Tracks and Yaks was founded by Adam Forshee and his wife, Julie. Their love for the outdoors and new experiences led them to rail biking. With years of research and several road trips, they were inspired to offer rail bike tours in Maryland and wanted nothing more than to share this unique experience with others who come to the area. Come enjoy this special activity and have a one-of-a-kind experience that we hope you will remember for a lifetime.

Great fun.

Great fun. We took the Queen City Combo, using the pedal cars downhill and the scenic railroad back to Frostburg. We might go do it again sometime.

Enjoyable easy ride

This was a beautiful ride! Coasted downhill for 10 miles. Absolutely beautiful scenery. Such a nice way to see the surroundings. The ride stops at one point, and a staff member gives a brief history of the town below. Was very interesting.

Fun and Scenic Ride!

I would highly recommend this trip! Easy and fun for all ages. Staff was friendly and answered all questions. We took the train back after the 15 mile downhill pedal through the scenic valley. Train ride was nice also! Snacks were available for purchase too which was an added bonus.

loads of fun

Came here with a friend and was not disappointed. They were very well organized and it was a beautiful (mostly) downhill scenic ride. 15 miles seemed long, but it goes by quickly and I didn't tire out on the few times pedaling was necessary. Took the steam engine back up and explored the town a little. Cute. May bring the kids back and do it in the fall.

Maryland Scenic Railroad ride

We contacted Tracks and Yaks and purchased our Maryland Scenic Railroad ticket and rented bicycles for the ride from Frostburg back to Cumberland. I wanted to do this for quite sometime, and I’m so glad we did it. It was such a great ride on the train, and an easy ride back down to Cumberland. It was a wonderful day.
